Description

The THOR Hammer SE-11 is a professional-grade omnidirectional condenser headset microphone built for performers, presenters, and speakers who need reliable, natural-sounding audio without the bulk or cost of some higher-end alternatives. At just 8 grams without the cable connector, it is one of the lightest headset mics in its class, and that makes a real difference when someone is wearing it for an hour-long service, a conference session, or a theatrical performance.

What sets the SE-11 apart from cheaper headset mics is its Danish omnidirectional condenser capsule. This capsule design is carefully tuned to capture both male and female voices with warmth and clarity across a full 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. Whether you are amplifying a pastor delivering a message, a presenter moving around a stage, or a performer in a theatrical production, the SE-11 is designed to pick up your voice cleanly and consistently regardless of which direction the capsule is facing.

The 115mm flexible boom gives you a little more reach than the shorter SE-9 model, which can be helpful for presenters who prefer the mic capsule positioned further forward toward the corner of their mouth. The boom is lightweight and bendable so it can be adjusted to fit different face shapes and preferences. The cable is detachable and designed to be easy to replace, which is a practical feature in high-use environments where cables take wear over time.

The SE-11 comes in black, which is a common choice for theater environments, darker stage settings, and performers who prefer a less visible mic profile. A dual-ear wrap-around headband adapter is included for added security, along with a protective carrying case to keep everything organized between uses.

Compatibility Guidance

If you are using a Shure system such as the ULXD, QLXD, SLXD, BLX, or PGX series with a standard TA4F bodypack input, this mic should connect directly. For AKG or Audix systems, you would want the XLR3 version. For Audio-Technica systems, look for the Hirose 4-pin version. For MIPRO systems, select the MIPRO connector version.

The SE-11 is ambidextrous, meaning it can be worn on either the left or right ear. The included dual-ear adapter allows the user to add a second ear hook for greater stability during active movement.

Setup Tips

  • Position the capsule correctly: For best results, place the mic capsule roughly at the corner of the mouth Avoid pointing it directly at the mouth, which can increase breath noise and plosives. A slight offset to the side gives cleaner, more natural-sounding audio.
  • Use the dual-ear adapter for active speakers: If the mic will be worn by someone who moves around a lot - like a pastor, performer, or fitness instructor - clip on the included dual-ear headband adapter. It keeps the mic locked in position even during energetic movement and reduces handling noise from the cable shifting.
  • Set bodypack gain carefully: Because this is a condenser mic with a sensitivity of -67dB, it does not need as much gain as some dynamic mics. Start with lower gain settings on your bodypack transmitter and bring it up slowly to avoid unwanted noise or feedback. Check your gain structure all the way through your mixer before going live.
  • Handle the detachable cable with care: The cable connects to the mic body at a small junction point. This is great for longevity because cables can be replaced without replacing the whole mic, but it also means you should avoid yanking or pulling on the cable near that connection point. Always disconnect by holding the connector housing, not the cable itself.
  • Match the mic color to skin tone when possible: While this listing is black, THOR also offers the SE-11 in brown and tan. For maximum visual discretion on stage or on camera, choosing the color closest to the wearer's skin tone significantly reduces the mic's visibility under stage lighting or in video.
