The THOR Hammer SE-11 is a professional headset microphone built around a Danish omnidirectional condenser capsule - the same type of capsule technology used in high-end broadcast and performance microphones. It has been carefully tuned to reproduce both male and female voices with clarity and warmth, making it a practical choice for speaking and singing applications alike. At just 8 grams without the cable connector, it is light enough that most wearers forget they have it on.

This listing is for an open box unit that has been used for demonstration purposes and is fully functional. GearTechs has sold nearly 2,500 of the SE-9 and SE-11 over the past few years, and these open box units come from returns and demo stock - not damaged or repaired units. The SE-11 version features a longer 115mm (approximately 4.5 inch) boom compared to the shorter SE-9, which makes it easier to position the capsule closer to the mouth without the mic feeling cramped against the face. Setup Tips

  • Shape the boom before wearing: The flexible boom on the SE-11 can be gently bent and repositioned to suit different face shapes. Position the capsule near the corner of the mouth for the best balance of clarity . Avoid placing it directly in front of the mouth where plosive sounds (p and b consonants) can cause issues.
  • Use the dual-ear adapter for high-movement applications: The included wrap-around dual-ear adapter adds significant stability for singers, performers, or anyone who moves actively during their presentation. It takes about 30 seconds to attach and can prevent the mic from shifting during a service or performance.
  • Handle the detachable cable with care: The cable connection point is where most headset mics fail over time. When disconnecting the cable from the mic body, pull from the connector - not from the cable itself. Store the mic in its case when not in use to avoid stress on the connection point.
  • Open box does not mean compromised: These units were used for demonstration, not returned due to defects. They have been checked for functionality and carry the manufacturer's warranty. These are the best!

Working great

Ordered this to replace some old/failing Audio Technica headsets. Just used it in production for the first time and it was fantastic. Definitely a nice upgrade. Strong, clear and consistent. Compared to the previous mic, we got more sound at lower gains, resulting in a stronger signal with less feedback. Mic seems pretty hot around 1k, but a narrow scoop there had it sounding very natural. And the around-the-head, dual-ear design is fantastic. Presenter reported that it was very comfortable, and the mic placement didn't budge for the entire event, giving us a perfectly stable source. We're very pleased!

Good microphone - too short over the headset adapter

Microphone woks well. Great quality. The headset adapter is too short forcing us to use the microphone on a single ear which makes it not as stable. Hope Thor will send a longer one for those who purchased the microphone.

Great Mic at a great price!

We were searching for a good mic for our pastor to use. We had previously been using a much more expensive mic and didn't care for the sound, found it to be flimsy, and the pastor didn't care for the way the mic fit.

We had heard a lot of good things about the Thor Hammer and at almost a 3rd of the price of the mic we were using, I was a little skeptical. The mic came very quick and in a really nice pelican style case. Immediately after taking it out, the build quality felt way more sturdy than our previous mic. Our pastor got to try it out and noted that it felt like he wasn't wearing a mic at all and agreed that the build quality felt way more sturdy.

When we got to soundcheck with it, I was blown away but how much louder I could get it before it started to feedback and the amount of EQ needed was way less than our current mic and still sounded better. Even the pastor could notice the difference in the way it sounded from the pulpit. Overall this is an excellent mic and we are so excited to start using it on Sunday mornings!
