Description

The ClearSonic IsoPac B, often listed simply as the IPB, is a full drum isolation booth package designed to tame the volume of an acoustic kit without hiding the drummer from the rest of the room. It combines a six-panel acrylic drum shield across the front with free-standing SORBER absorption baffles in the rear, giving you both a physical sound barrier and real acoustic absorption working together. The result is a perceived volume reduction in the range of 50 to 60 percent, which is a meaningful difference in a small worship space, a tight stage, or a live recording room.

This package sits between two siblings in the ClearSonic lineup. It offers similar sound reduction to the larger IsoPac A but in a slightly smaller footprint that lets more of the kit show through the clear acrylic. That balance is why it tends to be popular with worship teams and venues that want the energy of a visible drummer while still controlling the bleed that creeps into vocal and instrument mics. The front shield panels stack to 6.5 feet tall thanks to the included height extenders, while the rear SORBER baffles stand 5.5 feet, leaving roughly a foot of open space at the back for airflow. A small clip-on fan is included to help with air exchange inside the booth.

For sound engineers and volunteer audio teams, the practical payoff is more control over the mix. When drums are contained, you decide how much of the kit reaches the house and the monitors rather than letting raw stage volume dictate the blend. Cable cutouts make it easy to route mic and trigger cables out to your snake or stage box without leaving large gaps. Because the system is modular, you can also start here and add panels later to grow into the larger IsoPac A configuration if your needs change.

The booth fits most standard four and five-piece drum kits, but space inside fills up quickly once you add cymbal stands, a rack, and microphones. Measuring your kit footprint before ordering is always the smart move, and our team is happy to help you think through fit. The IsoPac B is made in the USA and built around ClearSonic's 1.5 inch rigid fiberglass SORBER panels, which carry a 1.00 NRC rating for strong broadband absorption.

Compatibility Guidance

The IsoPac B is designed to surround a standard four or five-piece acoustic drum kit. Compatibility here is mostly about physical space rather than electronics. The interior footprint is roughly 6 ft wide by 7 ft deep, so before ordering you should measure the full width and depth of your kit including cymbal stands, any rack, and the throne. Drummers who use wide cymbal spreads or large auxiliary percussion may find the space tight.

Cable cutouts in the panels let you route microphone cables out to your mixer, stage box, or audio interface, so the booth works with any standard wired drum mic setup. It does not include microphones or any audio electronics. The booth is also modular and can be expanded into the larger IsoPac A configuration by adding the appropriate ClearSonic panels and baffles if you outgrow this size.

Setup Tips

  • Measure before you build: Check the full width and depth of your kit, including cymbal stands and the throne, against the roughly 6 ft by 7 ft interior. Tight spacing is the most common surprise.
  • Position the SORBER baffles to the rear: The absorption panels do their best work behind and around the kit, while the clear acrylic faces the audience to keep the drummer visible.
  • Use the cable cutouts: Route your mic and trigger cables through the provided cutouts rather than leaving panel gaps, which helps preserve the sound barrier.
  • Run the included fan: The booth leaves about a foot of open space at the rear and includes a clip-on fan to help air exchange. Use it to keep the drummer comfortable during longer sets.
  • Keep the acrylic clean: Use a proper acrylic-safe cleaner like the ClearSonic ClearPac kit. Paper towels and household glass cleaners can scratch or haze the panels over time.
